Circular Polarization is one of the biggest step forward in the progression of the FPV experience of the last few years. It has improved signal reception on all bands and brought 5.8Ghz video from one of the least practical systems to now one of the best.

This is a 5.8Ghz Cloverleaf antenna for your transmitter and receiver.  A plastic enclosure is included to stop the antenna from being bent or damaged.  The connection on this antenna is a SMA type connector.

A cloverleaf antenna has 3 distinct lobes on it.  Is is usually used to connect to your transmitter unit that is onboard your multicopter or aircraft.  This is an omni-directional antenna so you might have some signal loss when you are flying directly above the receiver as this antenna does not rediate directly below or above the antenna axis.  However overall the cloverleaf antenna is the best type to use for your transmitter.

The Boscam RD945 is  one of the best FPV receivers on the market and now it has been made even better thanks to its recent upgrade, which provided an additional 8 channels to make it RaceBand compatible. Note that it still offers all of the 32 traditional FPV channels, so it's fully compatible with other 5.8Ghz gear on the market including Fatshark & ImmersionRC gear.

In addition to the RD945's wide range of frequencies, it also boasts many other features including, a true 40 channel diversity receiver with dual AV outputs which can be used to feed a monitor or goggles; auto channel search at the push of a button, and a clear LCD display that shows band/channel and the actual frequency number. It also supports a wide input voltage range 6-28v making it compatible with most power sources, including LiPo batteries. Finally, we're also impressed with the construction of the RD945. The Rx is contained within a durable metal case, which also acts to shield the receiver increasing its sensitivity.

Why do I need a diversity reciever?

A diversity receiver is essentially two receivers all in one. In essence, it allows you two mix and match antennas for a solid video link. So it might be that you select a circular polarised omnidirectional antenna, which will provide good reception in all directions in the near field, and a directional high gain patch antenna for long distance flights. The diversity receiver is clever in that it will seamlessly switch between the receiver with the strongest signal.

What is RaceBand?

RaceBand was first pioneered by ImmersionRC to allow more pilots to race together without interferance. Essentially, RaceBand is just another set of 5.8Ghz frequencies, to be specific they are: 5658, 5695, 5732, 5769, 5806, 5843, 5880, 5917. The difference between the RaceBand and the other 5.8Ghz bands is that RaceBand frequencies are more spread out across its band (37mhz separation) thus allowing more pilots to fly FPV together without their video feeds causing interference with each others.

Note that many shops are still selling the the old FR632 32-channel version, which does not support RaceBand.
