Model Glasses

The Frames
Made from an ultra-tough TR90 composite, the Breeze frame is extremely lightweight. The high quality frame features a slight flex which makes for a comfortable fit on most sizes and shapes of head. The attractive white and red colour scheme will especially appeal to those looking for cricket sunglasses, tennis sunglasses, or rowing sunglasses etc. Rubber ear tips and nose pads also enhance comfort levels.

The Lenses
Three sets of interchangeable lenses are provided as standard. They are as follows:

•   Category 0 light-enhancing for use on dull days
•   Category 2 beige, polarised for fairly bright or changeable conditions
•   Category 3 blue mirror, for sunny conditions

Modelglasses lenses filter blue light, thus improving contrast and definition of objects and terrain in your field of view. They are all made from impact resistant polycarbonate, and benefit from anti-scratch coatings and vents which prevent fogging. The vents sit on your eyebrows and therefore do not allow light through.

The polarised Cat 2 and mirror Cat 3 lenses greatly reduce glare. Glare is caused by sunlight bouncing off horizontal surfaces like an aircraft's wings, clouds etc. and it can greatly reduce your ability to accurately judge the model's orientation and distance. Polarised lenses largely resolve this issue.

The Package
Aside from the lenses, each pack comes complete with a high quality carry case, a cleaning cloth and a head retainer / neck strap. The case features a belt fixing catch and loops, plus internally stitched pouches for safe storage of the extra lenses.

Safety and Conformity
Breeze conform to EN1836 and US Z80.3 regulations for sports safety eyewear. They offer 100% UVA / UVB protection.

The Frames

• Made from TR90 and adorned with an attractive red and black finish, the Edge frame is so comfortable and light that you will probably forget you’re wearing them. Side arm rubber extensions, an adjustable nose clip and the rotating side arms allow for a bespoke fit for your needs.

The Lenses

• Three sets of UV400 interchangeable lenses are supplied, as follows:
  • Category 0, for use in low light conditions. An AR coating on the rear removes glare
  • Category 2, beige, polarised. A good all-round lens for changeable or hazy conditions*
  • Category 3, orange-red Frostech with a flash mirror coating

All lenses feature cut-outs that help air to flow across the rear surfaces, thereby reducing fogging. They are decentred, and have anti-scratch coatings applied.

* Polarised lenses filter horizontal light that bounces off flat surfaces to cause glare. It may be difficult to read a Tx display with this lens set fitted.

The Package

• Edge are supplied with a carry case, microfibre cleaning cloth and retainer strap as standard.

Conformity

• Edge comply with ISO 12312 standards for sunglasses, and also the US Z80.3 regulations. They offer 100% UVA / UVB (UV400) protection.

The Lenses

• Impact resistant polycarbonate lenses are fitted to the overglasses. They feature a mirror finish, and polarised filters which remove glare from your vision by filtering out horizontal light. The light treatment is Category 3, which is perfect for sunny conditions.

Ice is a hybrid of two original pairs from our Modelglasses range, namely the Expert (lenses) and Breeze (white frame) models. The elements are brought together to create a fantastic looking, and highly practical pair of sunglasses for RC use. The main features are:

The Frames
Finished in a highly attractive white and red scheme, the frames have rubberised tips for comfort. Being extremely light, and thanks to a slight flex that makes the sunglasses fit most sizes and shapes of head well, Ice are very comfortable to wear. The frame is made from TR90, a plastic composite material famous for being virtually bullet-proof and thus superior to the more common polycarbonate.

 The Ice frame also benefits from an adjustable rubber nose clip, which can be narrowed or widened to exactly fit the wearer's requirements.

The Lenses
Made from an extremely robust and impact resistant polycarbonate, all lenses bundled with Ice are made to very high optical standards. Three sets of lenses are provided as standard, and these are as follows:

  Category 0, light-enhancing. For use on dull or cloudy days
  Category 2, beige polarised. For use on fairly bright or changeable days
  Category 3, red Frostech mirror for use on bright / sunny days

All lenses supplied with Ice are anti-scratch coated, and decentred, which means the possible distorting effects of placing a curved lens in front of your eyes are calibrated out at the manufacturing stage.The polarised lenses are ideal for removing glare from clouds, wing surfaces etc. when flying.

All lenses filter out blue light, which improves the definition of the model against the sky.

The Package
Ice are supplied with a lint-free cleaning cloth, head / neck securing retainer and carry case as standard. The case has internal pouches for storing the extra lenses, plus a belt fixing catch and loops, making for easy access to your sunglasses when you need them in a hurry.

Conformity
All Rapid Eyewear sunglasses conform to EN1836 and Z80.3 regulations for sunglasses. In order to comply with the US regulations, a sample from every batch is subjected to a drop-test (impact test) at the manufacturing stage, to ensure their strength. Ice offer 100% UVA / UVB protection on all lenses that can be fitted to these sunglasses.

We are pleased to offer additional lenses for those who want to make their Ice sunglasses even more versatile.

Our clear, impact resistant untinted lens set makes Ice ideal for use as safety glasses when a tint is not required - they are also ideal for keeping the elements out of your eyes on cold and breezy days. Despite having no tint, this lens set is still 100% UV protected, and has vent cut-outs.

The green mirror lens set has been specifically designed for golf - through cutting blue light, it features superb definition and contrast on the course, allowing you to read the terrain and greens far better.

STRATUS RC PILOTS SUNGLASSES

A rubber gasket, located across the inside top of the frame, allows for better wind blockage, whilst greatly reducing the chances of sweat dripping into your eyes and onto the back of the lenses. It also enhances comfort levels. The adjustable nose clip allows further enhancement of the fit to suit your needs.
